We wanted to help our clients understand how AI tools can be embedded into an end-to-end process and thought that a game would be a great way to demonstrate the point - we use the approach all the time in our game-based Modulearn training.
A horseracing game had all the elements we needed. Simple input in the form of six horse names. A random element - the unknown winner, and the need for a unique personalised commentary to create the right atmosphere.
We had the idea, could we get AI to create the elements we needed?
AI was only part of the solution
While AI was a central element of the soultion, we needed something to bring it all together, and Make.com was the perfect tool to do that. In fact, only two elements of our whole process used AI. The remainder was a mix of file handling, data manipulation and email management.
The two AI tools we utilised were ChatGPT and ElevenLabs.
ChatGPT generated the random results and the script for the race commentary based on the horse names provided. The API Assistant was instructed to use a humorous tone with british-english language style, which it does very well.
ElevenLabs was then used to generate the race commentary audio using a sample of my voice. This took a number of attempts to get it right. While the voice sample can be very short, it needed to be in an excited commentary style to work. Nobody wants a dull commentary with their race!
So what did we learn from the experiment?
I think the key take away is that while we embarked on an AI experiment, the final soultion involved very few AI elements, and the lion's share of the work was in the orchestration. AI was a key component, and a solution without it would have been much more complex or would have required hand-offs for humans to add the... well, human bits!
We learnt that you can't expect robust AI solutions to be handled from the AI tools themselves. To get any value you need to embed those tools into your process with structured inputs and outputs. If you do that, there are great opportunities out there that you can now take advantage of.
